Excess Mortality is deaths per 100,000 residents. The baseline is calculated as the pre-pandemic average of 2015-2019 adjusted for the linear trend (linear regression). The figures for all age groups, are suitable for comparison between states, as they do normalize for a common age structure of a population using the US Standard Population 2000 age table.
