The following charts show the annual all-cause population and age-adjusted mortality for the United States since 1999. Mortality is adjusted for US 2020 standard population.

Based on this calculation method, the US had a mortality rate of about 1,023 deaths per 100,000 people. That is 14% higher than the previous 5 years, but only as high as 17 years earlier in 2003.
